Richard Duponcheel aka “Mr. D” 1939-2025
Better known as “Mr. D” during the years that he taught Business Education at George
Washington Senior High (1968-1991), Richard Duponcheel (born January 17, 1939)
was a teacher, Vietnam War veteran and was active in community theater, especially
the musicals of Rogers and Hammerstein, served in the Army and Coast Guard
Reserves and spent hours jogging/running on island roads. After returning to the states
Mr. and Mrs. D cherished their years on Island spending hours reminiscing over
G.W.H.S. yearbooks and photo albums. Mr. D passed on April 21, 2025 due to heart
issues and complications with Alzheimer’s at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karolyn/Mrs. D; sons Lawerence (Carrie) of
Tinian/Arnold, Nebraska and Daniel of Lincoln, Nebraska; Granddaughters Dolores-
Karolyn and Danielle -Louisa of Tinian/Arnold, Nebraska; numerous relatives; teaching
colleagues, special friend Joseph L.G. Diego of Inarajan and hundreds of former
students who knew him as Mr. D. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on May 3,
2025 at Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Arnold, Nebraska. Condolences may be shared
with the family at P.O. Box 4, Arnold, NE 69120.
